Have a look at the above postcard from the 1980's.  As you can see it features the lake at Raphael's Park, The Dolphin, Romford Ice Rink and Romford Market.

The Dolphin closed in the 90's and we were promised a new leisure centre.  In 2012 it was announced by the leader of Havering Council Cllr Michael White  that a new leisure centre with a swimming pool and Ice Rink would be opened in 2015.  However, in order to fund this facility Romford Ice Arena would have to be sold to Morrisons and that would leave over 500 people that use the ice rink without any facility to use for over two years !!  Havering Council have told the users of the Ice Rink that they cannot provide a temporary ice rink for the interim period !!

Let's have a look at the final photo, Romford Market, have any of you been there lately?This market is a shadow of it's former self.

No wonder people in Havering are angry !!
